Creative Space For All

Slough City Studios is a creative collective in downtown Petaluma, CA. The space, called Slough City Studios, has seven art studios housing a handful of artists who create everything from paintings, candles, jewelry, clothing, and beyond. Including a shared workspace to inspire the community, host/attend workshops, and artists can sell their creations in the Slough City storefront and gallery.

Annalisa Sher and Bonnie Comerford are the wonderful owners and artists of the new studio collective. Their mission is to make art accessible. Make art for the sake of making art and to bring the joy of creating to the people in all the ways, shapes, and forms. They have a beautiful focus on how art connects us all.

The pair say “Slough City” is a rebuttal to the “fancification” of Petaluma’s beloved slough being referred to as a river in many upscale businesses along the water's edge. Annalisa, a Petaluman, and Bonnie, who moved to Petaluma from Australia, say they were inspired to create a space to give small, local artists access to a gallery to share their art. The pair also emphasized that Slough City was designed to be a queer space and safe space for all.

Slough City Studios is on track to becoming a staple in the Petaluma community and hosts many community events available to the public. Some things to look forward to in the future from Slough City are their December holiday market and monthly art shows.

We chose to highlight Slough City because they are both an inspirational and all-inclusive art community within Sonoma County and one of GlassWing's biggest supporters. They’ve built a positive and welcoming space for us to create. We’re incredibly grateful to be a part of the Slough Family.
